a month in to it

elliot brynne was born on october 21st, 2007.

its been a wonderful month adjusting to her and caden. sky. eh. not so much.

i'm having a hard time personally finding time for me which is leading to so much aggravation and animosity between us. he is so "overwhelmed" with teaching, going to grad school, coaching...and two kids. while i'm just in school and staying home. its a "who's is more important" fight in our heads.

and i'm tired. just tired.

that complaint out. elliot is a dream. a wonderful, amazing, calm, laid back, easy easy baby *knock on wood*

so different then caden ever was and i imagine some of this has to do with the fact that we went in this time with a totally different mind set...ease. i mean, hey, we've done this before. we are pros this time around. spit up...whatever. poop...this is old news. crying...so what.

this time i 'm more worried about caden shaking the damn bouncy chair violently to worry about if there is pee on her jumper. life over urine. poo i still change. ;)

the official "how am i going to handle two" post

today was one of the moments you wonder how women did it when they had 5, 9, 13 children. Really. I have one right now, and I felt like I was losing it. Caden's schedule has beena little off this last week because I started substitute teaching. He goes to a sitter at 7am on those days. Normally, he wouldn't wake up on his own until closer to 8:30 or 9. While at this sitter, he eats lunch at 11am (normally noon) and goes down for a nap from noon until 2pm (normally 1:30/2:00 until 4-ish).

On these days, I wake up at 6am. I am completly responsible for getting myself ready and Caden, dropping him off at the sitter, picking him up and then Sky has been coming home and having do do homework, so I've been completly responsible for Caden. I feel like a single mother. I have homework too and HAVEN'T DONE ANY ALL WEEK! SKy doens't even bother to try and help. He just goes about his business like we aren't even awake with him.

It has completly ruined his schedule and on days like today, when we try to do a normal home routine, he is a disaster. He wakes up crying and spends all day fussy and whiny. I had a doctors appointment today where he was a total PIA.

I broke down in tears on the way home. I felt bad because I was yelling at him, yelling at the dogs, and it isn't their fault. I haven't had a second of time for me all week. Why can't some men just step up without having to be asked?

why i can't find time to blog.

i just can't seem to "complete" it. i know i have enough for a newborn and a 2year old BUT there is soooo much I want and no money to buy with. I just started getting into fitteds. as i said, we made out way to the zoo yesterday. it was a lat minute trip kind of deal. nothing planned. left in time for caden to nap in the car. stopped at the first metro station in franconia-springfield and caden got to take his first ever subway ride

he was pretty excited about being on a train and kept going "choo choo" the train was above ground for a little bit being that we were coming from the 'burbs.

three trains later and we were there....or at least in the area. we were about a 1/3 of a mile from the zoo where we were greeted by this guy.

first it was off to see the air conditioned visitor center so sky could "take a break". caden was literally on the edge of his (stroller) seat. while waiting we got to see the panda's on the television. real time footage. not as good as the real thing but it passed the time... finally we got to see some animals. we came across the cheetahs first. you can see one in the background (right above the black rail) taking a break from the sweltering heat. you would think cheetahs would be used to it. i hear africa is pretty hot this time of year...

next it was on to the emu. caden loved this thing. he was disappointed because just around the corner from here should have been the zebras...but to all of our dismay, they were MIA.

inside to see the pandas. where caden could barely contain himself.

he kept crawling up on the railing trying to catch a better view.

then there was the bald eagle.

the hippos and elephants...the free range tamarine monkeys. there were lots of warning signs to hide your food. these guys had free range of the park. this is the mama and her 2 month old babies.

the prairie dogs were next. then the BIG CATS!! lions and tigers, oh my!

on to the invertabraes. apes, gorillas, orang utans...then after a stop at chipotle, it was time to head back home on the subway.

for a little peek-a-boo then bed time
